Location: New York City (Hybrid) – Occasional travel
A growing renewable energy and technology-focused organization is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to help manage and evolve its enterprise IT infrastructure. This hybrid role is based in New York City and will require occasional support at a nearby New Jersey location.
This is a great opportunity to work within a small, collaborative IT team that values initiative, technical depth, and adaptability. The role focuses primarily on Microsoft systems and cloud environments, with secondary responsibilities in basic network administration.
Responsibilities:

Oversee and maintain hybrid infrastructure environments, including Microsoft Azure and on-prem systems.

Administer Microsoft 365 applications and core enterprise services.

Manage and enforce identity, device, and security compliance using tools like Azure AD (Entra), Intune, and Group Policy.

Support disaster recovery, system backups, and business continuity planning.

Monitor system performance, perform routine maintenance, and apply necessary patches and updates.

Create and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell or similar tools.

Provide Tier 2/3 technical support and collaborate closely with remote IT teammates.

Maintain system documentation and configuration standards.

Assist with basic network troubleshooting and hardware support (e.g., firewalls, switches, wireless devices) as needed.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.

5–7 years of professional experience in systems administration within enterprise environments.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure services, Windows Server, and Microsoft 365 administration.

Experience managing distributed environments using Intune, Endpoint Manager, and Azure AD.

Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and operational improvements.

Familiarity with core networking protocols and basic network hardware.

Exposure to firewall administration (Palo Alto preferred) and enterprise backup solutions.

Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.

Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced setting and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred:

Microsoft certifications such as Azure Administrator or MCSE.

Exposure to AWS or Linux/Unix environments.

Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven industries.

Knowledge of endpoint protection, vulnerability management, or security monitoring tools.
